With your helmet in place and ample energy from the morning's continental breakfast and beverages, take off along with your guides down the emerald switchbacks of Haleakala volcano's western slopes. Riding a custom bike, easily coast along the paved state highway past unmatched vistas, taking full photographic advantage of the road's wide pull-outs. Biking from Haleakala Ranch's 6,500-foot (1,981-m) setting offers plenty of bicoastal views into the expansive Central Valley. And the scenery definitely doesn't fade when the ride draws to a close amid eucalyptus forests and the Upcountry community of Kula, replete with lavender farms and Jacaranda tree-lined thoroughfares. Reward your cycling skills when you grab lunch on your own at Ulupalakua, then relax with wine tasting and grounds wandering at Maui's only winery.

Participant restrictions

This activity is suitable for competent bike riders ages 12 and older. Participating riders must be at least 5 feet (152 cm) tall and weigh no more than 250 pounds (113 kg). Pregnant women should not participate in the bike ride, but may ride in the escorting van. Anyone with medical conditions that may be adversely affected by this activity should not participate.

Note

Please be sure to wear closed-toe, rubber-soled shoes and to dress appropriately for the weather; layers are recommended. Roundtrip transportation is available from select Maui hotels. If your hotel is not on the pick-up route, you will be directed to the nearest pick-up location.
