The day starts early as you get picked up from your Waikiki hotel and flown to the Big Island. The scenic 260-mile (418 km) tour will take you along the Kona coast, where you’ll see the beauty of Kealakekua Bay. Check out a black sand beach, and visit a Kona coffee plantation, sampling a locally grown cup of joe. The tour gets steamier with a trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you’ll see Kilauea Iki crater, steam bluffs, the fern tree jungle, and Thurston Lava Tube. View the stark, volcanic landscape from the observatory, and learn more about the volcanoes at Jagger Museum. Then, marvel at the beauty of the orchid and anthurium nursery. Try not to get wet as you drive past the cascading waterfalls on the Hamakua Coast. The last stop is the Parker Ranch in Waimea, home to Hawaii’s famous paniolo (cowboy).
