Haleakala Summit Sunrise Bike Tour

Maui is renowned for its unique topography, which provides a rich variety of sights and smells. Choose between a bike safari and a van safari of Mount Haleakala, both starting at 6,500 feet (1,980 meters) elevation, outside the Haleakala National Park. Gently descend the 21 switchbacks on the western slopes of the world's largest resting volcano, all while marveling at the beauty of the flora and fauna surrounding you. Pass through various terrain ranging from the impressive lunar landscape of Haleakala's summit to fragrant eucalyptus forests, the island's protea, flower farms, as well as pineapple and sugar cane fields. You'll have the opportunity to watch a spectacular sunrise, learn about the history of Haleakala, see the Silversword plants as well as native endangered species and birds that have made Haleakala their permanent home. Complete the tour with a stop for a no-host lunch at Sunrise Market and a visit to Protea Flower Farm.

Participant restrictions

Participants must be at least 12 years of age and 5 feet (1.53 meters) tall. Bike tour is not suitable for pregnant women; they may participate in the van ride instead. Bike tour participants must be competent riders (bike tour is not suitable for beginners) and weigh less than 250 lbs (113 kilograms) each. This activity is not suitable for persons with medical conditions.

Note

Lunch is not included in the price. Please dress in layers, and wear warm clothing and close-toed rubber soled shoes.
