Details
After checking in at our Hanalei headquarters, 6:am sharp, we are shuttled to Haena beach park / Maninilolo 10 minutes up the road. Once we are all organized and sorted we roll right into a detailed paddle and safety orientation. As we paddle just offshore, it is common to be greeted by Hawaiian green sea turtles (kai honu). You may smell their breath before you see them. Something to remember: getting used to your kayak in the open ocean my take a few minutes so be patient with yourself and your partner. It?s easier than you think. Have your cameras ready for one of the most spectacular views in the world. Now you will see why National Geographic magazine selected kayaking the Na Pali Coast the one of the top adventures in the nation. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for endangered Hawaiian monk seals, spinner dolphins and mountain goats scaling the cliff side. We will be taking breaks every 15/20 minutes to take it all in. All breaks are taken on the water except for lunch. It is about 4 to 5 hours to Milolii (lunch beach) so bring good snacks. Once at Milolii we will enjoy a hearty catered lunch which has been voted best on the coast! This is your time to enjoy this beautiful secluded beach. Beach comb, swim, rest under a shade tree, or hike to a nearby waterfall. About an hour and a half later, it is time to part from this magical spot. It?s now time to reapply the sun sauce and make our way... We will launch our kayaks once more for the final leg of our journey to Polihale, the largest beach in the state. At this point we have paddled 3/4 of the coast. Upon arrival to Polihale, we will brief you on surf landings and send everyone in one at a time. This can be the most exciting part of the trip! After a cheerful landing, we celebrate with high fives and a swim. One last push portaging gear to the van and trailer. Here you are released to enjoy a cold refreshment and a fresh shower rinse.Once you pass the ?wiff? test, you can enter the van. Now it is time to make our way back to headquarters. We usually get back around 6:30pm - just in time for sunset and a well-deserved dinner. We recommend that you bring the following: 3 liters water per person Sun protection A hat Shades Sun screen Water proof camera Sea sickness medication Dry change of clothes
