Pearl Harbor, Arizona Memorial, and USS Missouri day tour
Fly from Maui to Oahu for a sobering glimpse into World War II. See the historical sites that were the pivots of significant moments with ripples that extended way beyond the location and the time period.
Tour the historic Hawaiian sites that bookended World War II. See Pearl Harbor, where an attack served as catalyst for the US inclusion in this historical war. Visit the Arizona Memorial, the battleship where 1,000 sailors lost their lives during the attack on the 7th of December 1941. See the USS Missouri. Here the Japanese surrendered, signing the document that officially ended the long, drawn-out war.
As the tour continues in sort of testament to survival and perseverance, make a stop at Kawaiahao Church (which marks a shift in the architecture of Hawaii). Visit the Iolani Palace (the only royal palace on American soil, and once the home to two monarchs). See the statue of King Kamehameha, which looms large with a golden spear and cape. Pause at the Mission Houses Museum, and gain a new understanding of Hawaiian culture. The last stop is the emotive Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific and the Courts of the Missing.
