Start at the top of 10,000-foot (3,048 m) Haleakala and work your way down through a veritable parfait of island landscapes. Kick off this exploration of Maui's volcano with a continental breakfast and a prime mountaintop seat for daybreak, sneaking a peek inside the summit crater once the freshly risen sun ramps up its morning rays. The day really gets going when you leave Haleakala National Park, departing its 6,500-foot (1,980 m) perch on a winding ride via bike along the 21 switchbacks of the volcano's western slopes. This gliding journey—complete with photo stops—takes you from the lunar landscape found near the summit to fragrant eucalyptus forests and fields of pineapple and sugar cane.

Participant restrictions

Participants must be at least 12 years of age and 5 feet (1.53 m) tall. Bike tour is not suitable for pregnant women; they may participate in the van ride instead. Bike tour participants must be competent riders (bike tour is not suitable for beginners) and weigh less than 250 pounds (113 kg) each. This activity is not suitable for persons with medical conditions.

Note

Lunch is not included in the price. Please dress in layers, and wear warm clothing and closed-toe, rubber-soled shoes.
