Experience the best beach for surfing instruction on the island—a gentle, secluded stretch on Oahu’s southwest coast. The barrier reef roughly 1 mile (1.6 km) offshore breaks down the large swells and reduces them to perfect waves for novice surfers. With water depth ranging from waist to shoulder high—and no riptide, undertow, or strong currents—even less-skilled swimmers will be comfortable. Combine these ideal conditions with knowledgeable, skilled, and credentialed instructors—all surfing masters and many members of the Honolulu Fire Department—and your first time on a surfboard won’t be your last!
Inclusions
- Surfing lesson, including 45 minutes of on-shore safety instruction and 75 minutes of water time
- Surfing equipment, including foam/rubber-covered board, leash, reef shoes, and rash guard
- On-shore shade tent and chairs
- Roundtrip transportation from select Waikiki hotels

Children 10 years old and younger must take a private lesson. An exclusive instructor will be assigned for private lessons.
