The first Hawaiians who paddled from the Marquesas Islands to Kaua'i found their way inland on this very same route. Experience these enchanting waters for yourself, where you will learn about the region's legends, plant life, and animal population. Once you've paddled past the numerous heiaus (hallowed shrines), Kamokila Village comes into view, then arriving at the North Fork — the most beautiful jungle river in all of Hawaii. From there, it’s an easy hike along a tropical rainforest trail to Kaholalele (Secret) Falls for a swim, Deli lunch and relaxing rest before the easy downriver cruise home.

Participant restrictions
- Participants must know how to swim and should be comfortable in the water, enjoy hiking, and be in good physical condition.
- The tour includes 4 miles (6.4 km) of paddling and approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) of hiking.
- Trail conditions can be muddy and slippery at times; this tour is not recommended for people with bad knees or bad backs.
- Participants must be able to walk 1.5 miles and kayak 60-90 minutes.
- This tour does not admit women who are pregnant
- Participants must be at least 5 years of age
- There is an maximum weight limit of 240 pounds (109 kg) per individual and 450 pounds (204 kg) per couple.
Note
Please bring hiking sandals, closed-toe shoes, or water shoes (no slippers/flip-flops); towel; swimsuit (under clothes); sunscreen; sun glasses; hat; and bottled water. Guests may want to have a change of clothes in the van.All customers/participants are required to sign liability waivers before participating in this activity.

From North Shore: South on Hwy 56 towards Kapaa. Go through 4 traffic lights. Turn left before Coconut Marketplace sign onto Aleka Loop. Turn right and follow Aleka Loop, Turn right behind Coconut Marketplace and park in rear parking lot. Walk towards Trees Lounge. You will see kayak check-in location next to Snorkel Depot. From South Shore: Take Hwy 50 through Lihue through a series of 12 traffic lights. At 13th traffic light, turn left onto Hwy 56 North towards Wailua/Kapaa. Cross Wailua River (double bridge) one mile to Coconut Marketplace. Turn right onto Aleka Loop. Turn right and follow Aleka Loop behind, Turn right behind Coconut Marketplace and park in rear parking lot. Walk towards Trees Lounge. You will see kayak check-in location next to Snorkel Depot.
